Welcome to Rants and Raves of a Crazed Mom!

Published in Mom Life Unfiltered on Feb 7, 2025

Well, here we are, y’all. My very first blog post. I don’t know whether to pop a bottle of champagne or hide under a pile of laundry (because Lord knows, I’ve got plenty of that). But either way, here we are, and I’m so excited to welcome you to Rants and Raves of a Crazed Mom!

Who Am I?

Let me introduce myself—I’m Laura, a single mom raising two girls, Cindy and Susan, while juggling homeschooling, work, and an ever-growing mountain of responsibilities. I live in South Carolina, where the sweet tea flows like water and the humidity is an ever-present frenemy. My life? Well, it’s a chaotic mix of lesson plans, work deadlines, and trying to convince my kids that “Mom’s homemade dinner” is not a crime against humanity.

Now, why did I start this blog? Because, frankly, being a single, homeschooling, work-from-home mom feels like running a three-ring circus—except I’m the ringmaster, the clown, and sometimes, the reluctant lion tamer. I know I’m not alone in this, and I wanted to create a space where we can all commiserate, laugh, and share tips for surviving (and maybe even thriving) in this wild ride called motherhood.

What You’ll Find Here

This isn’t just another “Pinterest-perfect mom blog” filled with immaculate meal-prep photos and chore charts that actually get followed (ha!). Nope, this is real life, complete with burnt dinners, homeschooling meltdowns, and the occasional victory dance when my kids actually listen the first time I say something.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Rants – Because let’s be real, sometimes you just need to vent about how your kids can’t find their shoes even though they’re RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM.
  • Raves – For those rare moments when things actually go right, and you want to celebrate small wins (like getting your kid to do math without tears—yours or theirs).
  • Tips & Tricks – From homeschooling hacks to work-from-home survival strategies, I’ll be sharing the little things that make my life easier in the hopes they help you too.
  • Mom Humor – If we don’t laugh, we’ll cry, right? Expect plenty of sarcasm, reality checks, and stories that will make you feel better about whatever mess you’re dealing with.

Why This Blog Matters

Being a mom is hard. Being a single mom? Even harder. And throwing homeschooling into the mix? That’s next-level chaos. But here’s the thing—I truly believe that no matter how tough or overwhelming it gets, there’s always something to be grateful for (even if it’s just that the kids finally went to bed).

I want this blog to be a space where we can support each other, share stories, and remind ourselves that we’re doing okay—even when it feels like we’re failing. Because, in reality, we’re not failing. We’re showing up, doing our best, and that’s more than enough.

Let’s Do This Together

I hope you’ll join me on this journey. Let’s laugh, cry, rant, rave, and maybe—just maybe—figure out how to make life a little less crazy together.

And hey, if you ever feel like you’re failing at this whole mom thing, just remember—even Albert Einstein struggled in school. So if your kid is having a tough day with fractions, they might just be a genius in the making.

Welcome to Rants and Raves of a Crazed Mom! I’m so glad you’re here.
